The Tractor Parade
Story of a Case SC
by Bernie DeLong

On a early fall morning back in 1994, I opened the newspaper and happened to spy an article about a local antique tractor club having their annual show that weekend.

Knowing about this organization for numerous years, but never attending, I decided to round up my 3 year old grandson and visit this event. The young fellow had a really huge interest in toy tractors at this time, so grandpa thought that he may enjoy seeing the real thing!

Well I sure was right on that, because I could not get the little guy to go home until the last tractor was loaded. Only at that point I had to promise him that we would buy an old tractor and return next year and participate in the Grand Finale tractor parade held at the end of the 3 day show.

While being a big kid myself and having a great time with my grandson and all the great people we met that day, I set out to find a old tractor to restore. About a month later I received a telephone call about a type of machine that I was searching for, about 60 miles from my home. So upon this new lead, I gathered up my little pardner "Zac", packed a little lunch, and headed out on our tractor search.

When arriving at our destination, we saw our rusty mechanical treasure setting in the weeds, begging to be put to use again. I asked the old gentleman if it would still run and he said "sure", start her up, and we did, and she purred again! I then sat Zac up on her and asked him what he thought and he nodded his head in approval. Well we bought the old machine and had it delivered about a week later.

Spring and Summer came and went, but with the help of my Wife and brother-in law, we had us a shinny new toy to take to the tractor show, which has become a family event every year since and Grandpa kept his promise!

Enclosed is a picture of our family treasure, and we now have a new 3 year old tractor enthusiast "Mitch", to keep us returning to the big show for a few more years.
