WD45 hand clutch snap ring

I bought a WD45 a couple weeks ago and the hand clutch was held back with a bungee cord so we decided to fix it. The snap ring was laying in the bottom of the housing and there was a pin out of 1 of the pressure plate rollers. I can't seem to get the snap ring to go back into the groove. It doesn't seem to have enough room. Anybody know what I need to do? It also has a 3 point hitch and good engine that I'm gonna sell if I don't get it fixed. Anyone in need of either?

I made a big snap ring pliers when I did mine. My ring had fallen off and got "lost". I couldn't get the new ring on without bending it to get over the shaft so I wound up welding it in place. I can try to snap a picture of what I made if I think of it. You can also check the Unofficial Allis page. I know I posted a pic of it there but it's been a few years.
