This 190 has been in our family since new....I acquired it from my Uncle....never had any steering trouble til now....steers
hard; I dont see a pump on the front of the motor...I took off the metal plate below the seat....there are two dipsticks? They
are both low but not out....is one for the steering? Thanks.

The I-T AC202 has a long paragraph on the steering and trouble shooting of it. But no pictures. It say to clean the magnetic oil filter and to change the oil filter and also to change the hyd oil.

Your slipping Banjo. You did not say something along the lines of OH not him again. LOL. I owned a XT190 years ago but it was just way to big for 44 acres of land LOL. I picked it up sort of cheap but did have to have the injector pump rebuilt and free the engine up on it since it was locked up due to the injector pump going bad

If a 190 is the same as a 180/185, the left dipstick is the power director/hydraulics (including steering). Right dipstick is the transmission/differential. Both take universal trans/hydraulic fluid (Allis spec was 821XL). Hydraulic pump is driven off the the front engine plate on the left side down by the frame rail. HTH. Mike

My book is missing ! lol but they both take hyd oil? I thought one would be 85/140? but ok...and "Old" ...what is OH ? Yes I must be slipping...but oh well.

How could an injector pump on A 190 cause the motor to lock up?? Been around them since they were new and never heard of this.

Diesel fuel washes down the cylinder and if run long enough that way they can and will lock up. The one I had, had a bad seal in it so a lot of diesel was in the oil which in turn locked up the engine

There is a difference in the hydraulic pumps on 190's,think that one style has an extra bolted on pump to the main pump for the power steering.Maybe Dr Allis will answer he'll know for sure.
