Rough 870 - need temporary fuel tank

Gents (and ladies),
Turns out oil is black but not contaminated... and engine turns over. Not seized after goodness knows how long sitting.
If you saw the tank was ruptured and fuel definitely has water and dust and crap in it - you can see the damage near left rear fender. Need to disconnect tank and can attempt to run off of a temporary tank. Any thoughts?
Semi-permanent if I can move the tractor around on own power till I get the factory tank repaired...
Any help on config/connections needed would be great.

I bought a 970 4 years ago that hadn't ran in about 20 years. It had sat under a barn changed engine oil and all filters and coolant installed electric inline fuel pump and bypassed factory lift pump on injunction pump because it was bad ran tractor off 5 gallon bucket of fuel in tractor cab till i got it home and cleaned tank then reinstalled fuel lines still useing electric pump

I've bought a cheap plastic gas can, drilled a hole in the side at the bottom and put in a bulkhead fitting. Plumb that to your pump. Getting the nut started through the pour opening can be tricky. Duct tape it to wire or something rigid you can put down the hole and hold it at the opening ad screw the other half in to it. If you go to an electrical supply house and ask for a 1/2" Meyers hub, that works ideal. The O-ring will seal well and hold up to fuel. Keep us up to speed on this!

I use a small boat outboard tank with the primping bulb in the hose. Strap to the hood, hook the hose up and off you go. If it sputters give it a few primping bulb squeezes. I drove a 53 VAC13 that way for 8 mi with a bulb squeeze every couple 100 yds.

Good day,
Thank you all for the replies. Thoughts I had were pretty hooky but seems I'm not the only one who did desperate things in desperate times. I'd rather see her running and need the fuel tank fixed then fix the fuel tank only to have some other catastrophic thing pooching my plan... this one and my 970 hadn't been run in three years minimum (both parked outside and fully exposed to elements - this one without an intake pre-screener on and air filter element holder breeched). How this things turns freely is a mystery but would like to light the fire if it's gonna happen. I will update my way forward to you gents.
