700 Case pulling progress.

Warning: Upsetting topic for some. LOL

I know there used to be some on here that enjoyed hearing of how the Ol' girl was doing. It has been awhile since I posted here, because some got their nose a bit out of joint.

So far this year she is points leader in three classes and in 2nd place in the 4th class, with two more pulls left this year.

I think shes doing pretty good against the big cube Deeres and Farmals.

Tell us more about the 700. How many cubes are you? what gear and what size of tires are you running? Any action pics

Sounds like things are going great, would love to see some pics or vid pulling, thanks for the update, Rod.

WE would like to hear more , my son wants to start pulling one of mine. I pulled one of mine ,its stock nothing done to it and it beat a hopped up m Farmall and a 730 JD
by 32 feet. Friend who owned the M ended up buying the refreshment that night.

Well we are on the 2nd block, 3rd different engine size. Should have never changed from the stock bore. She was tough right out of the box, with a propane intake and heads. Got the fever, and bought a NOS 267 kit from somebody in Nebraska, a Baker ground cam, and an 830 carb. Never did as well with the 267 as with the 251. Piston dome came off at the wrist pin in number 3 cyl. and put a hole in the block. So now it has an 830 block, 336 cubes, Baker cam, 830 Carb, Heads cleaned up in the runners, 3 angle valve job. Nothing fancy as far as head work.

I've got more pics that I will put up later.

I too am pulling with a Case 400, first
year out with it. Great gear selection,
weighted nicely even bare. Usually the
only Case at the pulls. 18.4 38 tires.
Pulls in 6th gear even on a heavy sled,
7th on the light one. I really like the
tin of the 700.

I like the tin work as well. Down here in the south I usually get to hear I've never seen a Case pull good. I run 16.9 Top Cuts 3rd gear for the 3.5 - 4 mph classes and 4th gear for the 6.5 mph class. Pulling the sled seen in the pics I can maintain 5.9.

Tried to upload a video from last year but it didn't take.

If your pulling 6th gear she gotta be pretty stout

Yes,on the high side. Pulling 5500 to 7500 lbs. I would pull heavier but I will have to make more weight brackets. I have it stripped down to 5300lbs with me on it. Rev limiter is at 2900 I try not to hit it. The sled I pull 7th is a light drop pan sled, lots of fun. But it has no problem with 6th with the heavy sled that the big tractors pull on.

(quoted from post at 21:26:54 09/19/17) Are you talking high second and high third? If so at what weight and rpms?

I pull third and fourth gear

7200 4th gear 6.5 mph don't watch the tach. Watch the speed readout at the track

7200 3rd gear 3.5 mph don't watch the tach. Watch the speed readout at the track

7700 3rd gear 3.5 mph don't watch the tach. Watch the speed readout at the track

8200 3rd gear 3.5 mph don't watch the tach. Watch the speed readout at the track

That is awesome. That is almost double the rpms that tractor is at stock. With 15.5.38 tires you would be running 14 mph in sixth and between 18.8 and 20 mph in seventh. Now add the 18.4.38s and at least 20 percent and you are looking at 16.8 and close to 24 mph. Brother is pulling an 8000 hot farm IH with a built Dt466 cam big fuel system, A pump and Precision charger and he can barely achieve 24 mph actual ground speed. We need to talk.

Sorry for sharing this post, glad there are people enjoying it. The old 400 looks quite rough, she had been an old dairy farm tractor. I am fixing and painting the tin work now, although I like the original look too!

If there is a sharper looking tractor
than a 700 I don't know what it is! And
I like all different brands of
tractors.
