Coolant leaking out of overflow on 611b?

On my 611b the coolant started dripping out of overflow pipe? and No it is not too full, I keep coolant down a couple inches or just over top of tubes, not getting hot and water pump seems to be ok, took out thermostat and it had a split down the side? had never saw that before. with the thermostat sitting on top of block casting, what keeps it from going up into hose? It seemed to be up in hose when I took it off?
the radiator seems ok, it had leaked about a gallon after mowing about 12 acres and seems to drip all the time. Thanks Gene

Attach a hose to the overflow tube, drop the end to the bottom of a clear jar that is half full of antifreeze. Watch to see if there are bubbles coming out of the overflow tube. If there are bubbles you have a compression leak, possibly head gasket. 600 does not have wet sleeves so that should not be a concern unless it has a replacenent block.

Indexing svc bulletins this evening and came across this for the 530/630 tractors

My 611B only does that if I overfill it. It should have a 4psi cap on it, any auto shop should be able to check it for you, or Autozone or O'Reilly's. Of course if the seal is cracked replace it. But I've seen them look good but still not seal. Next culprit, yes, check for head gasket leaks or cracked head etc, that is compression gasses leaking into water jacket. If your oil is turning milky it's a dead giveaway, otherwise there's a test kit available. You drive the machine around a bit with the rad cap off then suck some of the air out of the top of the radiator and bubble it through a chemical mix, if it changes color it's seeing hydrocarbons where there shouldn't be any. I need to study that bypass system, but I don't believe mine has one, and it hasn't killed it yet. Parts manual just shows the thermostat stuck in the hose between the water outlet and the radiator.
