I'm not connected to this thing in any way, but I thought you Case guys might be interested in it.

I've never seen one like it, but there were no Case dealers in this area.
Clean baler

May I ask what area you are referring to? Case tried very hard to establish dealers every 7-10 miles apart right after WWII. Thanks, Don

Waalll from the craigslist clues it might be Bluford, Il and google shows that to be just east of Mt. Vernon.

Don, I live in deep Southern Illinois, about halfway between Chester and Murphysboro.

In the late 50's, there was one farmer who had a nice Case tractor and baler. He did custom baling in the neighborhood. Then in the 60's a man moved here from Tennessee and had two 730 or 930 Case tractors (I can't remember which). He also had a DC? Case that I was fascinated with because of the chain drive. That is the only Case equipment that I remember in our neighborhood.

I don't remember a Case dealer ever being in this area, but I may have not been paying attention.

The baler in the Craig's list ad is probably 50 or 60 miles from me, as the crow flies. I thought it looked pretty clean.

I don't have good memories of those Wisconsin engines though. I remember eating haymaker dinners with the Wisconsin engine still running outside - they were afraid to shut it off while we ate. And one time the darn thing quit and everyone abandoned dinner to try to get it started again. We should have kept eating and just let it cool off, but the farmer was frantic to get it started again.

Wisconsin engines need regular maintenance like any other engine. If you had one on a baler or combine you had to keep the cooling fins cleaned out every day, and remove the carbon off of the pistons and valves at least once a year.

You are so right about those Wisconsin engines. A good friend had a 130 Case baler with a WI engine. He always made sure the gas and oil were full before starting it for the day and never shut it off until baling was done. One time was all it took. Don

Don,
My mother's brother had a Case combine, (Think it was an A6) with one of those Wisconsin engines back when I was a kid. He also left it running all day as it didn't start good when hot. Later he got another Case pull type combine with a PTO to use on his DC Case so he didn't have to worry about getting the engine started. Al
