Somebody did a 100 or more years ago. Took it out of the ashes in the stove this am. When I saw it I wondered if you had the trees all taped for this early warmup. No lead in this one, solid cast iron.

Wow cast iron, I had no idea there was that type of tap. A few years ago I removed a block of wood from a ash tree using a chain saw. This block I used to make a baseball bat. As I was doing the finishing sanding to the bat I hit a bolt within it. That make the bat unusable but it is a conversation piece. Rod.

Klyde, I haven't lost mine. It was there when I needed it this morning. HeHe.
On a serious note, yes the cousins have been taping. They have a new agenda this year. They are using plastic tubing and plastic totes. We will see how that works out.

Loren: What effect did those 65 degree days have on tapping? Does it affect quality & flow?

They should have made some of the best light syrup of the season, but my uncle and I are not there to kick them in the butt, and get them going. They are on their own this year. We will see what happens.
To them making syrup is a hobby rather than a seasonal money generating,part of the farm operation.
