8 speed transmission in an 870

Hello,

I've tried searching for this info, but I'm not having success.

I have a 970 and a 1370 which I would like to put an 8 speed in to eliminate the current powershift trans.

The 970 is a 401, and the 1370 a 504.

I cam across an 870 with an 8 speed trans, just wondering if this is the same trans as found in the 970/1070? 870 is a 4cyl, and depending on whcih 4 cyl, from what I can tell is basically a 504 with 2 cyl lopped off.

What is wrong with your power shift? Why not fix it? I have been through 3 of them, and have yet to spend over $250 for parts in one. With a Case shop manual anyone can fix one. The 1370 only came with the power shift trans. 770,870,970, and 1070 came with either. Bell housing is longer in the 4 cyl. tractors to make up for the shorter engine. Rear end and trans. gears are likely lighter than the 6 cyl. tractors.
