VAC Governor Sping

Has anyone ever "reverse engineered" a governor spring to be able to buy one from an industrial supply place? I just bought one on eBay and it isn't an exact match to the original. If it's close in length and tension wouldn't it work fine?

(quoted from post at 21:42:04 08/06/18) I have bought them off the wall for the VAC and had good luck.
Just found one the right size that felt like a reasonable amount of resistance?

(quoted from post at 22:58:23 08/06/18) Yes. I might have the package yet...been a few years ago.

Can I ask you for some additional details about this? For example, the spring weight, length, width, and other information? Also, where did you find it?

I found a replacement for it online, but they're asking nearly $27 (for a little spring!) and I can't seem to dig up any dimensions for it. According to the parts manual, it's part #[b:3b6c622d60]VT-3280[/b:3b6c622d60]. And it must have to be fairly accurate, because another part (VT-4588) is listed for CASE VAC tractors after serial#5365686.

I'd much prefer to find a close (or identical) match on some hardware site for a lot less money.

Thanks!
