What do you mean by the spring wont let go,are you aware that those recoil springs are compressed to several tons pressure and are very dangerous should the retaining bolt break,be cut or rusted away,to take a link out of the chain find the master link,take the pad off in front of it,if the tracks are on in the right orientation the female end of the link will come over the sprocket first,remove the master pin,you will now need to remove the pin in the link you took the pad from,that pin is pressed in,I usually use a torch and cut the link eye from the pin on the outside,cut the bush,you can now knock the pin in and it will come off taking the inner piece of the link with it,you will now see the male end of the next link,you will need to trim off the outer piece of the bush on each side,I usually do that with the disc cutter to save cleaning it up,that done and the adjustment backed off join the track and adjust them,it's a job for an experienced heavy equipment repair man.
