Fiat-Allis 10B

Hoping to get some help with fuel injector pump settings...we have been rebuilding our 10B here in Africa (Namibia) and could use a bit of guidance. Thanks! Gunter and Monty

The last six cylinder Fiat engine I changed the injector pump on was on a master spline,as I could find no marks the engine was in a truck what I done was spill timed the old pump before I removed it,put my own timing mark on the pulley and took the pump off,but I need not have bothered with the spill timing as the pump was on a master spline,It was a Bosch inline pump.

According to the workshop manual (Print No 604.06.077) there is a machined off tooth on the bush on the front of the pump shaft which meshes with an unmachined space on the driving sleeve - i.e. it can only go in one way.

Then there is a timing mark on the top outside bolt ear on the pump and a matching line on the casting by the tach drive. Manual doesn't say (as far as I can see) whether that is factory or you have to mark it before disassembly. We haven't had to visit that on ours.

Spill timing uses the INIEZ mark on the flywheel viewed through the port below the transmission oil cooler and 1st or 6th pump element.

If you need that proceedure I can quote the manual

The pump info is a Bosch OM 02532
PES6A90B410 L4/191
RPVA 300-1050 F114

Motor CP3 1002
001929

If that helps. I think I need the degree setting to get this thing working
Thanks!

The manual doesn't give injection in degrees that I can see. Here are the two pages on refitting the pump.

The window on the back of the lhs of the engine below the transmission oil cooler where you look for the INIEZ mark is shown in the top lhs of the first picture.

If the pump will only go in one way it ought to be close if the timing chest gears weren't disturbed.

Oops! Second photo is in twice so ignore the first and the order is right.

What did you do,did you disturb the timing gears? explain why you are thinking the timing is out, with the master spline setup you cannot put the pump on wrong it's idiot proof, the only mark to line up is the F mark ie the pump housing to the engine, again what is the problem you are having.

Thanks for all the info. We rebuilt the entire dozer and getting the fuel system functioning is (hopefully) the final hurdle. I'll let you know when it's running...hopefully this weekend. We use this dozer for debushing the thornbush on our hunting ranch here in Namibia. Parts and technical help are hard to come by out here in the bus, so thanks again for all the info.

I could wish you best of luck but luck shouldn't feature here.

Re parts etc. I've given you the reference number for the workshop manual we have. It is a good manual if you can get one - not much where you have to read between the lines. They seem to come up on Google etc.

Re parts - there are plenty in Italy, it just seems some of the links between don't work too well in some places. I deal with a local Oz firm where, if you have a Fiat part number, even the office girl can tell you if they have it or can get it from Italy.

And if it has to come from Italy and isn't too big if they have your order by about 10 am Monday they will have it in Oz the next Tuesday - unless it is a week of religious festival. I've got some pretty obscure parts that way - like the spring in one of the blade quick drop valves for instance.

I had a look at ours for that timimg mark "F". With side screen fittings and engine covers in place visibility isn't too good down there but it looks like there are lines on the pump (definitely) and the other side (probably, through the paint). I couldn't get access to remove the paint as yet.

Incidently ours in a plain "10" a bit older than yours.

Thanks Ian, I'll let you know if we get it running this week.

All I can say is ain't this site wonderful? Guys from Aus, UK, US and hope I haven't missed any countries jumping in to help a guy from Namibia.

I'm assuming this is the Namibia as in the country in Africa and not the Namibia in west Texas. Not that both aren't fine places.

This is early in our ownership when the blade quick drop valves were on the downbar hoop at 90 degrees wrong so didn't work. I've since moved them back where they should be, with much fewer problems with trees and hoses. One of quite a few things brought back to what they should have been.

It has a fairly serious tree pusher.

The tilt cylinder is on the left as is shown for 10 and 10B in the manual.

For brush work I've modified the radiator protector to a local pattern. The original Fiat guard is welded to the back of the louvres.

Pull 2 pins and it swings out for access for blowing dust out. Pull 4 and it slides down the tilt hoses out of the way. If I were doing it again I'd use somewhat wider flat for the louvres and space the original Fiat plate back so sticks and leaves would fall to the bottom.

If you haven't got engine side screens they stop a LOT of leaves and sticks falling into the engine guard. Ours didn't and it took a bit of reverse engineering to work out how Fiat built theirs.

One of its uses is reseeding with home made seeders for mostly buffel grass. Seed mechanism is a counterweight and chain on a spring. Calibration by "rough" and the size of the hole in the bin.

<image src="http://forums.yesterdaystractors.com/photos/mvphoto3997.jpg"/> The rippers are Australian Standen swivel tyne.

If you haven't got the lower protector plates on yet think about building trapdoors in them for ease of cleaning, oil changes etc.

I haven't got that"roundtuit" as yet.

And while I remember this.

Check the u-joints in the drive shaft. Comment from our parts supplier "Just as well you found that. If they let go they usually take out the transmission front cover."

Looks like you have a good old workhorse there.

Ian we have difficulty finding a source for parts that can find them in Italy and ship to us in Africa. If you have an address or recommendation you can share we would be grateful. This again for your assistance.

Probably a wild card but I'll ask and see if any of our suppliers can help. More when I know more.
