Case 450 dozer brakes

Case 450 dozer left brake not working and I don't think it has worked for a while. I got this dozer recently. The hydraulic part of the braking system works and so does the slave cylinder. It de-clutches the drive transmission but the left brake wont engage even with the adjusting screw fully tightened. I think the problem is in the braking housing within the brake shoe mechanism. Any thoughts or advice on taking apart? Any thoughts on other possibilities or common causes of them not working?

I cnat tell from the parts diagram how the brake actually slows the track--it does not show a shaft that it works on.

You will probably need to remove the brake housing,it may be the linkage has come undone inside,or oil has leaked in,the spline on the actuator shaft could be stripped, once the slave cylinder is working the trouble is inside the housing.

If I might add to AJ's comment,, if it has stuck at some point and gotten hot it will take the temper out of the springs and they will be "long" and not re-track the way they need to, this also most times takes the chrome off the actuation balls so they need replaced as well, I have had some luck if they are not oil soaked to buff the glaze off so they "grab" well again

I've been reading the post and decided to repair my Case 450 brakes too. Removing the housings and cleaning things up. Appears the seal has been leaking fuild into the brake
housing for sometime, guessing the shaft seals are bad. Any advice on removing the brake mounting plate?? My Case manual doesn't contain any info and can't fiqure it out.
