Hello all, new to the forum. I searched around and did not see anything that fit what I was looking for so here we go. Ill start by saying I am no mechanic at all but I do have plenty of tools to keep my tractors and trucks running so I am a hell of a parts changer. I am looking at picking up a D3B near me and based off the add it just needed rollers, not a big deal for me to change. Upon speaking with the guy he told me that the left side would move fine with no load but under any amount of load it wouldnt move. I am looking for direction in diagnosing this, I am assuming worst case would be a new final drive. I called cat and got a quote to pull and press the sprocket for me that came out to just under $1100 usd. I dont have a price on the final drive since I dont know the year and am waiting on him to send me the serial. Aside from paint missing he says thats the only issue. I am getting it for $3500 which seems to be a good deal in todays market. Any advice or direction is welcome. Thanks in advance for any help.
Edit: He did mention both sides had new steering clutches installed. I am assuming he had them done since he mentioned the final drive.
Edit 2: spoke with him to get shipping worked out and confirmed the steering clutches were new. He said he paid someone to do it and they filled it with fluid so he had to redo them again as it is a dry clutch according to him. The prices seem to be correct on having it done and buying the parts.
