Pertronix Ignitor on a clark forklift

any one know much about the Pertronix Ignitor. boss man has older clark that has been switched over to Pertronix Ignitor. ran good when he bought it. after around a year it went out. he replaced it and it has lasted about a year. replaced it and it only lasted couple months. replaced it again and a new coil and only lasted month or two. any ideas whats going on?

Some time back when this subject was up for discussion it was mentioned that the wires leading up to the coil as well as to the distributor should be nowhere near any of the high tension spark plug wires as there is risk of malfunction.
I do believe you can reach Pertronix via an 800 number. It's in their best interest that everyone is happy with their products.

If it is the original ignitor model being installed, they will burn out if the ignition is left on too long without the engine running. The original ignitors also need a 3 ohm coil or 1.5 ohm coil with 1.5 ohm ballast resistor.
