I have a 53 super h wider front. Will the hydro pump used for the power steering just ahead of distributer work for my loader? Is there enough
gpm. New to owning a tractor, any info would be greatly appreciated
 
Do you have a priority valve on that pump for the steering?

If so you need to check what the flow rating of that valve is, it takes 3-4 GPM for the steering, if it is bigger you will not get the flow to the loader you want.
 

I assume you are talking about the Behlen power steering? I have an H with that same system. I was told the Behlen pump did NOT have the capacity to do anymore than provide power steering. That pump IS fairly small.
 
A 53 can be either a Stage 1 SH with no original live Hydraulic System, but equipped with a after market hydraulic pump. This after market pump could be from several manufacturers. Some of these are sized to be used as power steering only, some are quite capable of being used as a modest hydraulic system for things like a three point hitch, or a loader.
OR it could be a Stage 2 SH with a real integrated pump and reservoir. This pump is also modest in output volume and pressures around 1200psi.
It could be a Stage 1 SH with a Stage 2 pump, (or a pump from a 300 or 350) installed to create a Live Hydro system. If you post pictures we can clearly help. Jim

The pump that is in the picture is a Behlin power steering pump no flow divider needed. It produces about 3 1/2 GPM. I have just found one that I plan to add to my M to run the power steering. I'm going to convert the small gas fuel tank into the oil reservoir.
 
The pump is too small for the task you want to use it for. A PTO pump (though not live) will really be nice for the loader. If the tractor is newer than 1950 mid year production, the existing pump shown can be replaced with a pump from a newer Farmall. Jim
