FARMALL CUB ( Clutch Issues)Vibration

Ok..... been tinkering with this clutch on a
1950 Cub I have and really cant figure out
whats up with the Clutch area? I can press
the Clutch in and between the 1inch or so
free play as soon as you press past that to
full release the clutch with vibrate till
its pushed all the way down? Then will stop
then when release ot it will Do the same
issue? Ive looked at the throw out bearing
its graphite type but seems to be Normal and
ive greased the bearing like normal and I
dont see anything bent or broken in there?
Is there something I might be missing, Im
trying to keep from splitting this thing.

I have found that the free play in the clutch pedal is only part of adjusting clutch. It's hard to do but through the inspection hole in clutch tube, check and see how much gap there is between the fingers and the throw out bearing. off hand I believe it should be I/2 inch. Please check manual about this. If not correct you can with a bit of difficulty adjust fingers to the exact amount of free play. It's very critical that these measurements are correct and all fingers are even. Good Lluck

Yeah Ive been messing in the peep hole to check athe 3 fingers. Does all the little screws need to be run out till they all are even?? Ive done that and notice it still seems one is always out more than the other? I guess bearing might be little worn on one side than the other. Or does getting them even consist of one clutch finger bolts being uneven to get them normal? Not sure if i made any since or not......

My first thought is that the 3 fingers are not adjusted the same. "The same" means all tips are the same distance from the main cover of the pressure plate. That distance should be about 1-1/8 to 1-1/4. Different people/tractors have been happier with slight differences in this dimension. They can be adjusted through the hand hole, maybe not easily.

Jim Becker's got the most likely issue. Depending on how big your hands are and how much dexterity you have in your fingers, you can adjust the clutch fingers through that hand hole. 1-1/8" is sometimes the best you can do because modern rebuilt pressure plates run out of adjustment screw before you get to the 1-1/4" measurement.

Sometimes it's just easier to split the tractor, which is no big deal on a Cub, and is a good way to get your first experience on splitting tractors.
