adjusted ipto per book....stills slips in tall grass with bush hog..is that the bands that are the problem...would replacing them fix the problem.........thanks dewy

Every tiny bit of slop must be removed from the linkage. put the lever exactly 1/2 way between off and on. Adjust the drive band until you can't rotate the output shaft then loosen it till you can with just solid hand force, not tools. then turn the screw 1/2 turn more toward loose. Do the same for the other band. See if it works! Jim

Sounds like the drive band is worn. I have sometimes had luck swapping the brake and drive bands rather than buying new. Though by doing that sometimes the pto will turn slowly all the time, and you can't adjust enough to stop. Sometimes it works great. Just depends how worn the bands are. The unit is a pain to handle but once you have it off the replacing isn't too bad. A word of advice too, if you do decide to R&R the bands, replace the PTO shaft oil seals while you're there. You'll be glad you did.
