The neighbor has a line that is leaking along side the battery box. Is there a simple repair or is it usually a case of buying a replacement?

If it is a standard size steel tube a Swagelock type fitting will seal and hold hydraulic pressure. You may need to take out a short length of the tubing and replace it with a new piece and use 2 Swagelock couplings to splice it in.

If it's just a small hole, you can braze it shut.A bigger hole can have a patch brazed. I seriousey dought you can buy a new assembly.Find a good used,or some improviseing may be in order.

Most effective repair is to remove the line from the tractor, clean it up thoroughly, and braze it shut.

New lines are not available, and if they were, you probably would balk at the price anyway. Used ones are not likely to be in any better condition, and are also hard to find.

New steel lines could be replicated by a skilled fabricator at a hydraulic shop, but again, cost.

Replacing with hoses may be a viable alternative.

i had the same problem on my 340 i took the lines off, cleaned them up and brazed them up take a look

Noticed just in the last few months that someone is making new ones or putting new pipes to the end blocks. Maybe someone will post the person or company and the cost.

My 400 had a hole and divots from rust under the cover by the shifter. I cut out about 4 inches or so and welded a new section in with a wire feed welder, wasn't hard and still holding fifteen years later. But I don't remember where I got the new section of tube.

Company called New Hydraulics just started advertising in RPM, replacement hoses, tubes, hyd, p/s, AC lines, fuel lines, everything made to order, they specifically mention Platform tubes for 300-560's.

I am sure that I tossed my old one away, otherwise he could have a friend of his repair it with a good section from that one.

I do not know if the hole is in the bottom of the bottom tube, but mine was. Maybe I will try to weld it myself.
