Rotor cap different in cub tractor.

I bought a point set from Tractor Supply for my cub tractor this set also is suppose to fit A, B. C,. The rotor cap in the cub has a nylon/plastic gear in it and the new rotor is different does not have the gear. WHY?

You have watch those turn up kits early cub has J4 magneto A,B,C Has H4 magneto they are not the same.
Later models use distributors and points and rotors are not the same as magnetos.

"TSC" - "The Horsey and Pet Food Store", NOT the place to buy actual "tractor parts", unfortunately.

IH 4-cylinder distributors do not have a "plastic gear" in the distributor cap. The cap looks like any other cap inside, just an open dome with five contact points. No gears.

Your Cub has a non-standard, "mystery" distributor on it, or someone has modified it with this plastic gear. That is why the cap does not fit, or look right, or whatever the case is.

It has NOTHING to do with where you sourced your parts. The Tisco parts from TSC are just as good as the CNH parts. They are made in the same factories on the same assembly lines. The only difference is the packaging and the price.

Can you please post a picture of the distributor, and this plastic gear? Maybe someone will be able to identify what you have.

The cub J4 mag uses the same points and condenser as the battery distributor used on other letter series tractors. The rotor is different.

If your cub had the battery distributor. the kit would be correct. The kit will still work with the magneto. But you will have to buy the correct J4 rotor.
