Do the hoses from pump to reservoir really need to be as large as they ar? I'm about to replace them. I'm only going to tee in with a 1/2".
So what size were they from factory and can I go smaller simply for cost?
 
My Super M had (from the factory) 1" suction,and 3/4" pressure lines.They were large to ensure full unrestricted flow. I would stay with those sizes. However ,I suppose you could use 3/4" on suction. 1/2" pressure would probably restrict flow some. Restriction causes heat.Not good on such a small reservoir with no cooling capacity.Stay with the factory size hoses.
 
I sdon't know what you can get by with but I believe if you restrict the flow to the point the pump rattles it is not good for the pump. Probably will be more noticeable when cold.
 
Not sure what you intend to do with a "tee" but you cannot "tee into the system" through those hoses, as in put a tee in each line, then connect it to the new valve or whatever.

It is an open center system and teeing into the system by those hoses will create two paths for the fluid to flow. Open center systems will not work with two paths for the fluid. When you close one off to activate whatever function it is, the fluid just goes the other way. So, you're doing weird contortions holding two things to make one thing work.

Everything must be configured "in line." If you want to add something to the system, run the pressure line from the pump to the IN on that thing, then run the OUT from that thing to where the pressure line used to connect on the block under the gas tank.
 
Help me here Barnyard. I had planned originally to pull a pressure line out the back of the reservoir and put a return into the fill stand pipe. I
thought that's what I had read on here before for a auxiliary valve. Then on 9/13 I posted a question about it and I thought they were telling me
to T into the line from pump. Honestly now I'm confused.
