454 questions

I've recently purchased a 454. I've done some research in this site's archives but still have some questions. I'll be using it for brush hogging, box blade work, moving round bales, cutting and raking hay and pulling a pecan picker. The tractor I bought doesn't have external hydraulics and I would like to add a dual spool control valve. As I'm writting this, my plans are to find a pressure line and return line and just "T" into them. I realize this may not be the best way or easiest way, so I'm asking for your thoughts and help on this. Also any pics would be great! My second question deals with the exhaust. Mine comes right out of the top of the hood. I would like to run it out the back below the tractor. It looks like I can unbolt the exhaust manifold and just flip it so that it exhausts downward, is this correct? Is there anything unusual that I should watch for when I do this? Thank you for your time and help!

When aux valves were fitted, oil was taken from the M.C.V to the aux valve bank, then via a high pressure carry over to the lift cover. The aux valves then have prioity over the 3 point.

Hi see this post about remotes on 674, same frame as 454. Surprised 454 didn't have at least one remote.

I have seen under slung exhausts on 454 but according to caseih parts for D-179 engine, the exhaust manifold is different: Vertical 3136069R12 MANIFOLD MANIFOLD W/FOUR STUDS, exhaust,
Underslung 3055124R12 MANIFOLD ASSY MANIFOLD W/TWO STUDS, exhaust.
I believe the problem with turning the vertical one up side down is the outlet comes out the center and that is probably going to collide with the oil filter where as the under slung opening is at the rear of engine.

Good morning,

Remotes were (I'm assuming) optional on the 454's. We had two over the years... one had remotes and one didn't. Valve's were inconveniently located below 3 point controls (almost down at the floor board).

Both ours had underslung exhaust. Routes down on the right... crosses under the tractor with a protector plate and exits behind you on the left...
