Dual Hydraulic Remotes?

I have a hook-up for a 2-way cylinder on the back of a Super MTA, so it is a hook up for 2 hoses, an in and an out. I am looking at an older round baler that has a hydraulic tie, so dual hook-ups are needed, one for the baler lift gate and one set for the hydraulic tie.

Is there a way to put in a valve with 2 hook-ups and a toggle valve to switch between 2 remotes in order to run both the gate and tie separately? I would not need to run each simultaneously as you first tie, then unload. Thanks for any input.

I would invest in either a two or three valve remote valvebank. Using one valve and a switch-over valve is going to be a pain and will cost at least as much as a multi-valve assy. I have two three valve banks hook in series on a 1941 Farmall M running a front-end loader with hyd, bucket and hyd. grapple and a three point hitch with forklift sometimes attatched to the rear(the three pt. stays hitch on the tractor all the time). After using this for about 10 years I would not change a thing. If you have any questions I will try to post pictures this weekend. Armand

I would not bother with the electronic gizmos that allow you to switch between two functions. First off, if the SMTA is 6V, you will need to carry an extra battery to operate the gizmo, or convert the tractor to 12V. Second off, they are much more expensive than a simple two-spool hydraulic remote valve and some hoses ($500+ last time I priced one).

You can purchase an affordable two-spool OPEN CENTER remote valve at wwwDOTsurpluscenterDOTcom. It must be OPEN CENTER, or you will blow up your hydraulic pump. Pick one that has "NPT" aka standard pipe thread ports.

Simply install the two-spool valve in place of the one you have now, run some hoses to the rear of the tractor and add quick couplers for your baler.

You can also connect your current valve in line with the new two spool valve, and have all three functions working simultaneously. Simply connect the OUT from the new valve to the IN on the existing valve.

Get a two-spool valve and plumb it in... 3-spool if you ever plan on a 3-point hitch.

Thanks for all of the great recommendations.I will definitely pursue one of these options. The valve that I currently use is operated by a long rod to the right of the steering wheel. There are 2 rods, an upper and a lower. I must allow the 3 point hitch to ride up to its stopping point and then the upper rod is used to open and close the baler gate.
Works the same when I run the log splitter. I might have 2 extra ports I can tap into to run directly to a spool. I'll look at that. That might be a better option. I have a front-loader on it. The bucket is a trip lever. The lift is tied into the 3 point hitch lift. There is a valve. Sounds like the baler would work with it.
