Hi guy's, I was wondering if the farmall 300 utility had the same kind of power as the 300 row crop? I just sold my row crop and I miss it but i live in the hills so I thought I would go lower after 3 years.

My neb. test list has the 300 row crop at 38HP and the 300U at 34HP. But I will warn you if you buy a 300U with out power steering you will find that they are very hard to steer.

dad had both as the main tractors when i was in high school. the 300u had more zip on pto work, as it runs a couple hundred rpm higher. the farmall had the better traction of the 2. as old noted, steering is the downfall of the 300u, especially if it had a loader on it in the past.

if the 300 U is harder than the 300 farmall it must be a real bear!! I had the farmall 300 row crop with a wide front and loader and I wished I had power steering.

The hard steering on the 300U is one of its major draw backs. I have a friend that owns one and let me tell you an hour on it seems more like being on a lot of other tractors all day. There was something about how they set them up that made the a bear to steer. Now if you want to be a muscle builder thats the perfect tractor to own because after a few hours in it you will not need an upper body work out
