Pressure washed the tractor and then it wouldnt start. Come to find a rusted out wire lead going into the regulator. It is a 12 volt converted tractor. The ballist resistor is also looking pretty beat. will any voltage regulator work? I read the article here http://www.ytmag.com/articles/artint195.htm
but that is for an internally regulated alternator. Wish my digital camera was still working. Any thoughts or ideas are welcome,
Dan

I am going to replace it but it is the original equipment voltage regulator I need a replacement for also.

Dan - Does your 400 have 6 or 12 volt electrics? If 12 volts does it have a generator or an alternator conversion? AND if it's an alternator, what kind? (Delco or ???). Answers will determine what voltage regulator you need...

Unfortunately "just any regulator" won't work!

A 12v positive ground VR for a "A" circuit Delco system of 20 amp charge rate will do it.
NAPA should have them for many 12V IH tractors with generators. JimN
