thanks for the in put on the gear noise. i took the mag off to time it the tractor started hard kept kicking back ran kinda rough also. when i line up the td/ec mark on the flywheel with the hole with both valves closed the coupler tangs are slanted the oppisite way of the mag. the wires were one hole ahead to make it run. do you think the mag is togather wrong or the motor is wrong? also the cam that opens the points can be turned around. does anyone know of a good book or site that explains the correct way, i got a repair manual but it kind of vauge. thanks chris
 
i have the instructions on my home computer and could get them for you next week The circle of bolt holes on the timing disk will let you set it where it needs to be.
