Correct me if I"m wrong...a factory IHC widefront has the tie rods in front, while the aftermarket are in the rear. In general, is this right? Which would be more valuable?

Up until 1954(?), then the factory tie rods went behind also.

Thanks for the response. I ask because I just acquired a 1955 400, but it has the tie rods in the front.

Someone must have put a front end off of an old M under 'er. The 400s had the tie rods behind.

Mike: Allan is correct, all factory installed wide front 1954 and after had tyrods behind axle. The older wide front will bolt up in many cases, and indeed there were a good many of those old wide fronts in dealer inventory at the end of 1953.

The early models had the tie rods out front like this 1944 H, later IH moved the rods behind the axle like this 1954 Super MTA.
