when I go to start the tractor it doesn't want to start it only starts with starting fluid. It just started doing this. If I run it for awhile shut it down and try to start it does same thing won't start have to use starting fluid. I think its in the pump but not sure there are no leaks that I can see and check the injectors and there all getting fuel. Any help would be great. Thanks jeremy

Well here goes the could BEEEeeee's Could be low cranking pressure on the injection pump , could be low cracking pressure on the part of the injectors, could be low compression on part of the engine due to being wore out , could be broken top rings on the pistons , could be the valves are out of adjustment or have sunk to far into the head maken for low compression. With out me personaly looking at the tractor and doing some checking we are just guessing.

Do you get any smoke out of it when it is cranking and not starting? If you do not get smoke it is probably a worn injection pump head. If you get smoke it could be any of the things the tractor vet listed.

With no smoke, it sounds like lack of fuel rather than low compression. How does it run after it is started? How much blowby?

MY 986 IHC done the same thing had to use starting fluid every start, i took the fuel pump off my 915 combine never change anything, just put it on, it has never needed starting fluid even on cool days this is 3rd year now. so my guess is fuel pump:~)
