You go ahead and drain the old oil out of the tractor rear with no sign of even a drop of water ---- Then a bull gear tooth PLOPS into the drain bucket.

Pulled the top cover off and the rest of the inside looks as perfect as anyone could ever hope for. Of all the extra F-12 parts that have saved up in my barn over the past 20 years, the one part I never thought I would ever need was a bull gear, so I never saved one.

Wonder if anyone around the York Pa. area has an extra F-12 bull gear kicking around?? Otherwise its a 92 mile round trip to a salvage yard to pull a junker apart to get one out.

Hey James W.:

Thanks for the offer to haul it away, but I think I`ll pass for right now.

As for the paint, we have a lady up here in the paint dept. at lowes that grew up on tractors and loves a challenge. I found some of the original gray paint under the farm dirt on the inside of one of the frame rails. Was able to chip off a good size piece where the paint was thick.

The lady at Lowes spent an hour playing around with variations of what the paint matching machine came up with until we both aggreed that it looked pretty good. Not sure if it is an exact match to the factory version, but it suits me.

The front end ofcourse is the eye catcher, but those closed tread 40s sure help also. The tractor will also have the optional dip stick, American Boshe FU-4 magneto, and the early flat plate style mounting brackets for the draw bar. Also have the tall breather pipe for it and fenders.

great looking tractor.

I just finished an F14, no wide front though, so I am jealous of yours.

I notice one thing that I have seen different ways on different tractors, and that is the hubs on the rears are facing out on yours. I have seen them mostly facing in, and mine they have always faced in, my tractor was "born" into the family in 1935, and grandpa swears they are correct.

What actually is correct?
