i can get rustolem paint fairly easy near me but i really only see one place that sells IH1250 in this state and they are kind of weird over the phone what brand paints have you guys used that have a good finish i have the paint gun and the sheet emtal is perfect it was professionally done using lead filler and its already primed with brown primer any input?

aint no body man, but i painted a old dump truck 2 years ago with rustolem from homedepot (25 per gal) used acidtone for reducer and it never did shine but covered up all ugly stuff! going to paint farmall h soon brought T.S. paint(44.00 per gal) plus harner & reducer, pre painted some parts , look good

I would use the PPG paint code 71310 Single Stage
with hardener. I used Rustolem on an old Toro mower. It looked pretty nice. Here's a pic of it. Hal
PS: I used the 71310 on a Troy bilt tiller and it looked better.

I used tractor supply paint, the $44.00 a gallon plus their primer, and hardern on a cub that I just finished and it came out just great... I'm thinking that you'll really like it.

I use the tractor to start the Toro mower so I don't need to rope start it. I could put a starter/generator on it, but I don't use it much anymore. Hal

You can probably start your farm tractor if they have the belt pulleys using a flat belt. Hal

2150 can be mixed by PPG (71310), or DuPont 96766, or NAPA/Martin Senour (Don't know number). At a minimum use Omni (PPG) or Nason (DuPont) acrylic enamel, acrylic urethane with hardener is better, but requires a supplied air breathing system -- some people say no, but I will not recommend hardener to anyone without supplied air. Tractor store/hardware store paints are alkyd enamel and do not last unless waxed frequently or kept inside. CaseIH sells 2150 in an "acrylic modified" version of alkyd enamel. It is ok because it contains UV inhibitors to prevent fading, the main problem with the older alkyd enamel. I would remove the brown primer and use epoxy -- the primer on it now may or may not be compatible with the paint you use. And epoxy is waterproof, your "brown primer" whatever that is likely isn't.
