706 Cooling system problem

We use our 706 diesel to shred roadsides. We usually run at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and it pulls fairly hard. While shredding it doesn't leak water at all, however whenever we idle up to stop or shift gears, water runs out the overflow. We have replaced the hoses and radiator cap to no avail. We haven't overheated it, and there is no oil in the antifreeze. We don't whether it is the waterpump, radiator, head gasket, or something else. We're stumped. If anyone has had this problem before or knows what it could be, any information is helpful. Thanks
 
Could be clogged rad cores and water does not circulate when water pump is turning at low rpm.
Look at lower rad hose to see if it is being distorted by vacuum from water pump.

Had a 454 do this and steam cleaning rad fixed the problem.

Oh, I forgot to add we have already had the radiator cleaned. This is an early 706 if that makes any difference. Thanks for the insight though.
 
You did not say just what engine is in it ????? is it the C263 gasser or the D282 diesel.Also keep he water level down around and inch and a half below the bottom of the neck .
 
It has the D282 Diesel. We usually try to keep the water around that level. We have 2 other 706s identical to it so we know it has something else wrong.
 
Well first off here is what to do , with a COLD engine remove the fan belts remove the thermostat with the thermostat and housing removed fill with water to the top of the housing in the head . Start the tractor and rev it up hard and if she pucks water then ya know that you have a comperssion leak .Now this can be a head gskt leak a cracked head or even a cracked block down in one of the cylinders and it may not show up as water in the oil and as for finding oil in the water that usually only showes up when the oil cooler takes a dump.
