Any younger Farmall owners? Younger being relative I guess.

Without offending people :) I was wondering if there were any younger Farmall owners of antique equipment out there? I grew up around Farmalls and purchased one of my own about a year ago. I have a smile on my face every time after a few cranks and I am up and running - thanks to everyone here.

I only post once in a while but read this forum everyday and get more than I ever thought I would out of it. The help and advice I have gotten from everyone, old and young, has been awesome and has helped me to get my 1948 Super A in tip top running condition.

New equipment is great, but there is something to be said for 60+ year old equipment that just won"t die and you can fix with an adjustable wrench and a screw driver.

Thanks again to all that post and read.

I'm young...maybe if you consider 26. I have a 52 M and a 76 1566 and also a oliver 1855D...I like the older tractors.. I can afford them at least, and there are not computers on them...

I"m 34. My family owned a dairy farm in Massachusetts when I was a kid. They were milking like 5-600 head at one point. Anyway, nothing left now, so I"ve got a "53 Super H and a "47 A industrial for me and the kids to mess around with. Family never had Farmalls or Internationals - I just like "em I guess. Sure sound better than those old green ones!

I read this column all the time, but only post once in a while. I"ve learned a lot from everyone.

I'm 23 and have been restoring tractors for a couple years. I've been working on engines since I can remember. We own a 1939 farmall B, 1940 farmall H, 1941 farmall H, 1941 farmall M, 1951 farmall M, and a 1962 560 diesel. We all love red in my family and all love tractors. Thanks for this page guys!!!!!!!!!!

I am only 78--still "young". Growing up I thought Farmall was all there was that could do a days work
did not like pop-pop. Now have a JD 2010,318-420 and another 318, Love them all. Grew up on Farmall Regular, have had a couple H tractors and like them. But I like the live hyd, power steering and live pto, and 3pt hitch.!!

Almost 53 by the calendar. 23 at heart.

Rebuildin'the motor on the SuperC about eight years ago, I was sixteen again, bustin' my knuckles and takin' in scents that hadn't crossed my nose since I was a kid gettin' into the guts of my '64 Beetle tryin' to keep it runnin'.

Did a loving restoration of the BN (a family tractor -- the one they tauhgt me to drive on), combinin' everything I could recall from my youthful wrenchin' on wrecks with the experience of the SuperC job. I can't tell you how many years it took me back when the old girl fired on the third pull if the crank. I rode shotgun while my great-grandfather cultivated beans on that tractor startin' from about age five, and got back almost to that point when I sat over on the left while a good friend took her for a spin.

So the age is relative. No offense taken here at all.

By the bye, what's MTV?

Started driving my M, back when its was Dads, in 1st gear and half throttle when I was 8. By the time I was 12, we had at one point almost all of the letter series, except the BN, and had done different things with them.Still have the M, but the rest were either traded or sold. By the time I was 15, and getting my learners permit, I had graduated to a Case 1030 Comfort King, and was doing almost all of the heavy plowing on about 2000 acres scattered around the neighborhood. Feilds are housing developments or mobile home parks now except for a maybe a couple hundred acres here and there. Still have the M at age 39.

38 here. Dad had collected two 53 Super WD6,a 52 W6,52 Super w6 and a 52 w4. He passed away July 18 almost two weeks ago now at a young 67. Gonna miss all the Massy pulling stories from him. Made the final desision to restore the diesel after a five mile ride to get new tires on Sunday. I always loved the sound and smell of the SWD6 as long as I can remember riding with dad

Steve, I feel young (and pretty, well maybe not pretty) every time I get on one of my F20s. One Dad bought new and I drove when I was 6-8. One I worked a summer for a guy and he offered me "my own F20" instead of cash.

Steve
Im younger than that 78 year old guy, Im only 72 and recovering from a recent heart attack. I bought the 1951 M, fixer-upper as part of my cardiac rehab------its in worse shape than I am and I feel sorry for it. Great therapy.

I'm 33 been around tractors or farm most of my life. Left the farm for 10 years to see how "great" the outside world is. Now I'm back farming for the last 5 years. I have 15-30,B,H,and 656 hydro D. Run about half our land with pre WW2 equipment. Dosen't always go so smothly, but is always more fun.

I"m just 15....wait a minute, I meant 51. My Super A is 6 years older than I am...but I like older girls:)!

maylocks/tylenol/vivarin??? actually, me thinks mtv is a bunch of television garbage. I was watching TV when it was b/w and Tom & Jerry, Huckleberry Hound, Red Skelton and Bob Keeshan gave us good clean entertainment. I remember a test pattern on the screen before sign-on, the National Anthem being played daily and stations signing off at night...I'm slightly older than my Farmall 340 and I CAN count, but do I...???

23 years old, red is my favorite color. '67 706 LP, 62 560D, '57 450D, '54 400, '50 M, '47 M, '46 B, '38 F-20 on full steel, '36 F-20. This is one of my favorite websites, any information I need I can get it here.

Hi, I'm 15 and I have 3 old tractors. I have my 1943 Farmall H that I restored, a 1949 John Deere A that I'm still working on, and a 1938 Farmall F-20 that I have not picked up yet, but I will soon. I love old tractors, but Farmalls are my favorite. Me and my Dad both love old tractors and we have collected quite a few. We are going to our first tractor show on August 2nd & 3rd.

I'm 52, farmed full time for 20 years till health forced me out. Kept the 454 IHC that I bought in 1976 to have a tractor to play with. Then had to have a Farmall H like I grew up on, got a real nice '52 and a #60 plow to use for plow days 3 years ago. 2 winters ago I found the 123 SP combine that I worked on sewing sacks when I was 12, cleaned, painted and unstuck the engine and got moving under its own power. It will never be an operational harvester because all the wood was rotted out and had to be removed along with the pack rats and nests. This winter a little IHC 2400 gas hydro lowboy found me, first tractor rebuild I have done in 15 years and it is just what I need in my life right now to settle my soul. So life is good for this "old" farm boy....James

I'm 31. From NW IA originally, but moved to So central IA last winter.(near Oceola) I have a 1967 Oliver"1950" w/4-53 Gm and mfd that i bought before my grandpa passed on to that big corn feild in the sky. I also have a 1955 Farmall 400 that i bought for play and to pull. When I was young, Grandpa and Dad and
unle still farmed with the 450D that was the last new tractor Grandpa bought before he retired. Dad wont get on my Oliver, but he will spend half a day on my 400.Brings back memories I guess. (looking for a mounted picker for my 400)trying to be like Grandpa

I'll turn 41 on Friday...guess that qualifys as "young"...currently have an F-20, 650D, and the Super A that I learned to mow hay on when I was 9 years old....

Still haven't been able to swing the purchase of an M I've been seriously looking at but soon will hopefully....and just got a line today on an 806 I might be able to get my hands on...

Unfortunatly, in my "real job", I spend most every day steering a funny lookin' green and yeller thing with some kinda elk or moose or something on the emblem....

I'm 30 I like the red tractors I have H, 2 f-20,
2 regular, 2 f-12 (one is parts), 1961 cub cadet lawn tractor, Case C, spoked wheeled wagon, 2 little genius plows, 8' disc, and a cycle bar mower

I'm 27 and I grew up on an IH farm. I farm a little myself now and "borrow" new red equipment. Got the old tractor fever when my uncle and I got my late grandfathers M running a couple years ago. I was pretty little the last time I heard it run, way too young to drive it. It sure was a great feeling to have that old girl back around the farm doing her share. Since then I've acquired a SMDTA that I restored, got a SC and A with belly mower and bought a SH with my father. Its great hobby.

i'm 15 and I have a 1950 farmall H, a 1957 farmall 350 and a 1965 cub cadet 100, dad and I farm with a international 686 and a super m. my grandpa got me into ih.

MTV videos were pretty good early on, actually. Just some of the good: Van Halen ("Jump", couple others, Sammy Hagar - couldn't drive 55), Fleetwood Mac, Eagles. People where I worked would stop working & watch some of these videos for a short while (3rd shift). Later, MTV not so good.
Yeah I remember bw tv, too, when you could only get one station for a few years. "Mouseketeers" good for kids after school. Sorry/ digressing. Don't mean to start anything with any Red contributors.

I just read your reply to the question about younger people with Farmalls. I also have 2 supers - both '53 models - SM -SA. The SA since fall of 1965 and the SM July 2001. My question is about 686. I just purchased a 1978 686 with the 312 diesel. The tractor runs great but after starting and let the tractor run a little I get this sound like the pump is sucking air - but according to the dipstick the unit is full. I had a post on this and one the answers I got was to ad more fluid to see if the would help with the noise. Everything seems to work after the pressure gets built up. I would appreciate any help you could give. James

Im 28 and grew up on Red ones but right now Im color blind. Between my Dad, my brother and I, we have an 18-36 Hart Parr, Regular Farmall, unstyled A JD, unstyled B JD, 2 M farmalls, an H farmall, an R JD, a 460, a 720 JD, 2 656's and an 806. They all have certain features that make them fun to opperate.

There's some geezer out west somewheres that acts a lot younger than he looks. Actually might be several of them.

I am 33. I lost my dad November 07. We have collected tractors for the last 7 years. We collected John Deere and Farmall. The Farmall collection first. 3 10-20 McCormicks, 2 15-30 McCormick Deering, 2 Farmall cubs, 3 F-12's one with widefront end, 1 F-14, 1 F-20, 1 B, 3 H's, 1 UD 24 power unit. The John Deere collection is 2 styled A's, 3 styled B's, 3 unstyled B's, 1 U/S AR, 1 U/S D, 1 H, and 2 oddball cletrac dozers.

I am 34. My dad passed away last year & left me a 1930 regular, A, 560, 986, & a MX240. I hope it doesn't stop there. I'm still wanting an H, 1468, & a w-9.

I am 27 and still working on my first red one, a Farmall 504 Diesel. I thought I wanted a two-cylinder JD, but the red paint got in my veins. My next project will be a six-cylinder diesel red one!

(quoted from post at 07:31:01 07/31/08) Hey, What about us girls! I'm 40 with 7 kids, 18 grandkids, & 6 great grandkids. Confused? Don't be I married into the family and got my hubby free when I took the others. My hubby just bought me my first F20. I always wanted one.
How'd you get talked into [u:fed7f117a8][i:fed7f117a8]that[/i:fed7f117a8][/u:fed7f117a8] deal? mike

Im 21 and have a super h, 2 450 diesels, several grain drills, more cultivators for h, m, and c than I can count, and No. 31 power loader, No. 80 combine, 3 drawbar mount sickle mowers and more stuff in the back of the shed that i havent seen in years. Been collecting for almost 5 years now and bring something new home about every weekend from an auction or my tractor show buddies.

Forgot about the plows. Have a No. 70 four bottom, 1 #8 on steel -2 bottom, 3 #8 2-bottom on rubber , and a front mount cultivator for a 706. Saving as much of this precious stuff that I can before the scrappers get it all.

Now if I could just think of a good song to go with it, Hummmmm? said thing is he likes green, yuck. I'm still looking for a 12 step group for him.
