Anyone have any experiences with the brakes that keep getting air in them .I can bleed the air out of the brakes and have good brakes for a day or two then they are full of air again and have to rebleed them . Anyone know what direction to take .The master cylinders have already been replaced but still getting air ,Could the brake pistons inside the axle housings be getting air inside and need rebuilding . Almost at wits end and ready to shoot this damn thing. thanks for any help from anyone

Hi Hound, the following is from archives:
Bleed the brake system, stop the tractor for 1 or 2 days and check one pedal at the time to see which is the side that has the problem. Unlock the pedal to make the test, because if you press both pedal at once there is an equaliser valve in the system. The pedal that goes down has a leak in the line or the brake piston.

Some other basic checks, make sure that only Hytran or equivalent hydraulic oil is in the transmission and the hydraulic filter is clean and the level is full or over full. Following happen to my brother on 454, he purchased a wood splitter at a farm sale. Connected it to his 454 and used it for a few days splitting wood. Afterwards he kept getting air in the brakes, turns out the hydraulic cylinder on the splitter was full of regular detergent motor oil and it was foaming in the transmission causing air bubbles in the hydraulic lines to brakes. Required complete drain of system and new filter.

Check brake hydraulic lines from brake cylinders across top of transmission.

Good luck

Do what JimB2 says, ours had one brake that kept getting air in it, turns out on the the lines near the hydraulic oil filter came loose 1/2 a turn enough that it would allow air in and you would loose the brake on that side after a while. Tightened the line and no more problems.
