Hi all-
school is out for another 2 weeks so finally popping in to say hi.
My 350 utility sat all winter in the barn- went to start it and the battery was shot. Bought a 1000 cr
hr battery made for a diesel truck, hooked it up and she started right up!!! I'm a happy camper.
Still haven't found throttle linkage for her, so haven't put the new (used) manifold on yet.
Still leaking hydro fluid. There is a "hole" area under the chassis dead center- its square- two bolts, so I know there is supposed to be a plate there...is the fluid all running out of that spot? It's maybe a 3 x 5 or a little bigger squared area.
Anyway- got some catching up to do I guess (as usual).

Welcome to the forum! With the amount of H's out there I would think finding a linkage won't be too hard. Ask around here, lots of information on tap.

Thanks for the reply- I've been searching for the linkage for at least a year.
This is a 57' 350 diesel. I've tried to ask different places that carry parts for this model if there is any cross reference and all are saying no.
I find it amazing that this tractor runs fairly well without the linkage and butterfly in the intake, and can't imagine how much better it would run if the parts were intact.

That plate is just a dirt cover to keep dirt out of the clutch area and to gain access to grease the throw out bearing. It does not seal oil in.

If it is dripping oil there it means your seal on the rear end or the seal on the engine is bad.

thanks for the tip, Andrew- I called and he said rare to find someone junking a 350 diesel so he therefore doesn't have the linkage. He also verified that the gas vs diesel linkage is different, so there goes that idea too.

thanks again

diana: I'm not sure we like this schooling thing, you don't come to visit us at YT near as often as you did in the old days.

There has to be surplus 350U diesel throttle linkage somewhere. Here is a phone number for you, 519 523 4922, his name is Steve Radford, Ontario Used Tractor Parts, and he ships to the US. A very honourable lad. If it's in Ontario, he'll know where.

Diana,

Usually linkage is not too difficult to make. Most of it is made of 1/4" or 5/16" rod stock steel. Sometimes the ends are threaded for small yokes or ball/socket ends. That kind of hardware is often found in tractor and truck salvage yards.

If you can find someone with the same model tractor, they may be willing to give you the details needed to copy the parts you need. There are a lot of good craftsmen (whoa!! "crafts-people") who can fabricate such parts. One possibility is to contact a blacksmithing group near you and either join up or at least make a few contacts who can help you. I am a member of such a group, the "Guild of Metalsmiths" in Minnesota. A good number of women have joined and are developing their metal working skills just as I am too.

How's that for a crazy idea??!!

Best Wishes!

Hi Hugh!!!!
I miss chatting with you! Believe me, I don't like this school thing either. They basically own us. After this Fall session, it should be a bit easier until next Fall when I start the second half of the Nursing program to get my RN. December will be the end of the LPN part- then in the Spring, I have but one or two prereq. classes and thats all.
They had us do a summer session and it just ruined all of my plans for the summer. Fortunately, we are having absolutely beautiful weather right now- in the 70's when it should be blazing hot.
I have peeked in on you all from time to time but if I started writing, I would never get my studies done, so I had to refrain. :(
I'll give that dude a call tomorrow and see what he can find. Can you believe that tractor started right up?? Dreading hooking the mower back up...especially since the brat donkey was standing on the mower in the barn yard and sunk it into the dirt.

Talk soon and thanks for the info

Hi Paul- I got that same advice from a tractor dude I had emailed to inquire. Problem is finding someone with the diesel.
I have the catalogs that show the parts (plus, they are online at Case, but I don't know the workings of it until I see it in action, then, I could probably fabricate something myself out of stuff I can find around here. I am pretty good at improvising.

Thanks for the advice..and getting some blacksmith experience sounds intriguing!

there was a 350 utility diesel at the antique pull last saturday (sc ny). i don't know where you are, but there is at least 1 model around. he pulled pretty well, too.

Hey Diana, how you been? Hadn't heard from you in quite a spell. That old tractor will run better if you ever get that butterfly linkage on there. I broke down and sold my 350 Diesel while back. The guy hasn't picked it up yet but I already spent the money. Hehehe! I really hated to part with it but I ain't doing as much as I used to so didn't need it to bad. I have regretted selling it since I cashed the check, but what is done is done. Even sold my 450 Diesel too. Good Luck.

Howdy George! Yeh, been a long time..sorry....
sad you sold that tractor...don't suppose the guy would notice the linkage missing from it, would he???
Sold the 450 too??? Ouch!
I think about selling this one, but then she starts and I just can't bear to be without. I still want to fix her up and clean all that old paint off of her and repaint and all.
Only gonna be here a couple of more years at the most, then I am moving on...due to hubby issues....and not even sure where I am moving!
My oldest wants to move to Canada! Wonder how Hugh would like that...heh heh heh....
I am seriously thinking the tractor is somehow going with me. The mule too. Great excuse never to step foot in an apartment!
I gotta call that guy in Canada that Hugh told me about and was out all day today, so I'll have to call tomorrow. Maybe there's still hope I can get something.

Talk soon!!!

Dianah, I just called - 5:00 p.m. central daylight savings time (so, do we really get an extra hour of daylight?) 1-877-530-2010 and talked with Craig at asapagparts - same website link with dot com and he is sure they have a linkage for you but I didn't know if you also need lever/other ?'s. This is in Black Creek, Wisconsin. They have other yards you can find on website. Where ya at? and good luck with your nursing program, a very admirable profession.

Hi Al!
Thanks for the info- I just called there and a bit too late for the day and Craig had already left and another gentleman answered the phone...They open at 8:30 Indiana time ...I'm in New Carlisle about 20 minutes from Notre Dame in South Bend.
I am SO excited about this!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the well wishes too

diana

Hi Al-
Just talked to Craig and he will be calling me back to let me know if he can find the linkage.
The suspense is killing me!
