F20 Governor Help

Looking for some advice on adjustment for the governor on a 1937 farmall f20. I notice the adjustment rod, but would like to know any procedure for getting it running perfect. We use it a little around the farm and take it to a few antique pulls, but it doesn't 'open up' when under load. Any advice will be appreciated

I'm no expert on the governors but I will do my best. First of all we need to know how your throttle hooks into the governor. If your throttle linkage goes from your hood down to a lever located on the governor linkage just up from the carb then that type of setup only adjust the load under full throttle. If you have the aftermarket/field conversion throttle that goes from the right side of the gas tank and goes straight into the governor housing and governors at all rpms. Tell us what type of setup you have first. Pictures are always helpful.

I didn"t see a reply to the post. I haven"t been able to find the answer to the same question. My 38 F20 has the variable speed governor - rod goes into the back of the governor from a throttle rod - not from the hood area. I can see where the the lock nuts and linkage has been moved an inch or more on the top rod, so I think it is messed up. I runs an OK rpm now, but doesn"t lug, seems to labor and throttle rod pulls hard at higher throttle. Are there any instructions to setting the govenor?

I have the same governor setup as your '38. I have a rebuild manual showing the governor but I believe it's off an f30 as it doesn't look the same. I'm going to call a friend locally and find out any more information. Any more updates will help as well!
