I know this is WAY off topic, but I've found that the members of this forum are probably more diverse in knowledge than most any other...so here goes.
Does anyone know where I can get a forearm for an Arisaka 7.7? I've found a good one, but it needs the forearm. The Mum is still on the receiver, the bore bright and clean, and the rest of the furniture is good...
(For those of you wondering what in the HE(( I'm talking about, an Arisaka is a WW II Japanese rifle.... besides tractors, I collect that stuff too, much to my wife's chagrin..)

what mfg? Kokura, Nagoya, Jinsen, Howa, Izawa, Mukden? Do you know the series?? Also, is it a full length handguard or the short handguard. Email me detailed pics & I can help you out

The bore is nickel/chrome lined and are great. We have a rifle, but it is not in my hands. They are stone reliable, and near 30-06 in every detail of performance. Do not interchange cartridges (very bad). JimN

The one I have is a full length stock. You are talking about the wood on top of the stock I suppose. Sorry, I dont have an extra one. The safety on those things is kinda screwy. I was messing with the safety, also pulled the trigger while the safety was on, it was loaded. Later, when I went to shoot at a deer, as soon as I took the safety off, BOOOM. I went and bought a Remington 700 and parked the rifle of Nippon.

Then he'll want to buy it.

I'll look in my pile of parts and see if have an extra upper hand guard. If I find one, it's yours. I'll let you know.

Sarco of Stirling, NJ has stock wood from time to time. They are new made, of course. I got a few parts from them for a 7.7 Arisaka.

I have no need for any more T99s, unless they are a sniper, Mukden, Early Jinsen, Type 2 paratroop, or Naval Special. There are many different variations of T99s, and some are extremely rare and extremely valuable. Most people look at the Arisaka as a cheap beater rifle that isn't safe to shoot. Contrary to what most think, they are one of the strongest bolt action rifles ever made (the quality did go down over time). Also, not all T99s have the chrome lined bore, as this feature was eliminated as the war went on. Anyone with an arisaka should get educated, as the rare ones do exist, and do come up fairly regularly. If you ever try to sell an Arisaka, it is best to know what you have, as the market value of a T99 could be $50 to $2000........ Some people shouldn't make assumptions as to other's intent.....

Here are some pics of my arisakas

now don"t get your nnalert in a wad...everything is said tongue in cheek!

I ran into a gentleman that has hundreds of Arisakas of every description and type. I have never seen such a large amount of one type of gun, anywhere..except in a military armory.

baseless accusations are the problem here, nothing less. I prefer to help fellow collectors, no matter what area of mutual collecting it may be in.

Dig back in time....research P.O. Ackleys results from blow up test on the JAP rifle...He felt They were a "HELL FOR STOUT ACTION"

Wow! That is a really nice assortment of Arisakas. I'm no where near that advanced in collecting, or knowledge. I decided I wanted to start collecting WWII bolt action rifles, as I had very nice Rem. 03-A3. All of my rifles have come from vets, or their families, and all have a story behind them. To date I have:

Remington 03-A3
Mosin-Nagant 91-30
Mosin-Nagant 44
Mauser K-98
Mauser GEW 98
Enfield Mark IV .303
Arisaka 99 (soon)
M-1 Garand (Yeah, its not a bolt, but it was way too nice to pass over.)

I'd like to find a Carcano, but again, its tough because I want one w/ a story behind it.
My favorite, the K-98, was brought back by a man who has since died. He was a BAR guy for a platoon, and they were outside Bastogne, walking along a meadow, trying to stick to the woodline, when a shot came from a "deserted" house. It killed one soldier, and a second shot wounded another. He opened up on the house w/ the BAR, to keep the sniper's head down. Part of the platoon flanked the house and made entry. They found a German in the attic of the house, lying prone, w/ the K-98 almost sticking out of a hole in the wall. One of my friend's 30-06 rounds had ricocheted off a hearthstone, went thru the ceiling, and killed the German dead, going through the bottom of his chin. The K-98 I have is the one he HAD.
I'll be picking this Arisaka up next week, and I'll be in touch. Thanks for the replies.
