No serial plate for an H

I just bought an H that is complete except for a serial plate. You can see where it was removed from the left hand side of the transmission case. How would I go about identifying the year it was built and how would I order parts for it?

Thanks!

Look for casting codes, a casting code is stamped into several of the cast iron parts, example: 8-25-M would mean August, 25th 1943, the letter at the end of the code is the year:

1939 - I
1940 - J
1941 - K
1942 - L
1943 - M
1944 - N
1945 - O
1946 - P
1947 - Q
1948 - R
1949 - S
1950 - T
1951 - W
1952 - X
1953 - Y

If it still has the original block, the serial number is stamped on a smooth flat spot on the block under the spark plug hole.
