question for my neihbor on farmall cub

my neibor has a farmall cub and she asked me to come look at it and i knew the battery was dead so we pulled it i put it in high gear and the rear wheel spun but the motor didnt turn at all. i think she may have tore up the clutch?

Clutch could be bad if when you let it out and is in gear the engine does not turn. Now if the tires stop spinning or try to have one go forward and the other back wards it could be a lock up engine. Can you turn the engine over buy hand, with either the fan or the hand crank. Is it a mag or distributor, if its a mag set up it should be easy to hand crank, BTDT many times and a cub has a small enough engine that it turns over very easy by hand

Most likely the clutch is toast, hopefully it didn't bend any pushrods also. Stuck valves will slide the wheels on a cub.

Were you in a poor traction condition? I remember trying to pull start my Case one time on wet slick grass. Any time time one wheel would get traction the other wheel would turn backward but most of the time both wheels just slid.

well i pulled the plugs out and pistons do move. so we went ahead and pulled her in two. clutch came out automatically in peices. didnt even have to loosen a bolt
