IH Super C, my temp gage stop working, I have colors, white, green and red. What are the temp ranges for each color and where does it tie into the motor at?

The sensing part of the gauge is screwed into the thermostat housing on the RHS of the tractor. I don't know what temps the colours correspond to but it won't make it out of the white unless you're working it and I've never heard tell of one making it to the red. Sam

I know when I restored my H, I had a brand new IH "Rochester Guages" temp guage that was the same way... it would run in the white and only make the green if you worked it hard on a hot day. That bothered me because the green says "Run" but the arrow never gets there unless the tractor is borderline overheating.

I switched it to my W4 just for kicks and it did the same thing. Are they all that way or is there something I don't know here?

Just follow the lead from the guage it will either go to the lower housing going into the radiator or the filler neck goung into the head. If you take the sensor out you can heat it with a match or hot water to check the movement of the guage. I wouldnt worry about the guage moving as most dont the engine never gets that hot. Tou can always put a thermometer in the rad to check the temp when warm.
