line that goes to air breather to engine

Hello everyone--
Need to know what exactly went from the engine to the air breather on a 44 H. Trying to find replacement. It was not there at all when I bought the tractor. Thanks Ryan

Its a steel pipe that goes from the back of the head through the gauge mount to the breather. Check out a tractor scrap yard in your area they might have one.. If not you should be able to make one with modern fittings. It's not period correct but its under the hood so you will be the only one to know.. But that is if you don't mind..
 
my 39 H dont have one either is this line important? do I really need it? what is the purpose for it?

There is a metal tube that goes into the back of the cylinder head into the lower part of the air cleaner air intake pipe. If you need one of those tubes, post a wanted ad in the Classified Ads on the left, or I see them on eBay sometimes.
 
It is for crankcase ventillation. You should have the tube on the tractor. Search "Farmall H air breather tube" in the YT search for more info.

The line is there to provide crankcase ventilation. Air passing down the air cleaner creates a lower pressure at the fitting for the line which draws crankcase fumes into the air cleaner. Depending on the amount of blowby the engine has, air will either be drawn in or expelled through the crankcase breather tube on the side of the engine.
