IH 806 pto clutch adjustment

Hello Dave,
There is no adjustment to take up the wear. That PTO is hyd engaged clutch packs. the only adjustment is on the lincage. you will need a 300psi gauge to check hyd pressure it should have 175-185psi. the test port is on the side under the spool. If the pto is slipping and you have pressure the clutches are bad. I just did one yesterday the rebuild kit is $115.00
Good luck Ed

Ah the PTO clutch lock up pressure should be set to no less then 235 as they can walk thru the lower setting under heavy loads and myself i like 235 - 245 . You need a gauge that will read 600 lbs as i have found over the years that a gauge that has a bit higher capacity does a better job. and if ya make a mistake and go over it will tell ya better then just pegged the gauge. Next ya need the special fitting to screw into the test port . You loosen the lock nut on the valve stem and screw the valve stem into the nut to raise the pressure . But you also need to check the low engauge pressure as this is set with shimm's on the valve stem down inside the valve. Now if ya can not get your local Case I H dealer to sell ya special fitting the buy a new plug and O/ring and take one or the other and drill a hole dead center and well a fitting on the one plug and add piece of hyd. hose from the fitting to the gauge. Pressure is set at full rated PTO speed with the hyd. oil temp at between 150- 180- degrees. IF ya try setting it when cold then you will be way off when operating temp is reached.
