1 bottom Plow for Cub, A, Super A or B.

I picked up a 1 bottom plow at auction earlier this summer. It's an IH plow. Has a counter and a tail wheel. Looks just like all of the rest of the Cub / A / B plows.

The main difference of this plow is an attachment on the beam which is a linkage that attaches to the rockshaft arms on an A / Super A. The other difference is the drawbar attaching. There are no side brackets / U bracket & springs with the flat 2 hole plate to bolt to the drawbar. Instead it has side brackets that attach and form a vertical cylinder with a gap between them. Like a door hinge.

I have never seen anything like this setup and I cannot find anything similar via the CaseIH parts website.

Anyone want to clarify what this thing fit, what model it is, etc? It is in perfect condition, I picked it up for next to nothing and I have a 54 Super A to put it under... Just want to know if I am missing anything in order to mount it properly.

I do have some photos on my phone, just have to transfer them to the computer and then I can add I reckon if that would help.

Thanks eh.

Here you go.

Difficult to see the front mount in the photos. It is more or less just a single piece of steel bent in a U that is bolted to the beam. It is factory, not something someone cobbled together.

I have never seen a gauge wheel on one of these plows, especially along side of the coulter... I have a feeling it has something to do with the setup of the front attaching point.

First off, it is a gauge wheel, not a tail wheel. It is probably for an A, maybe for a B. I is definitely NOT for a Cub or Super A. It is missing about 2/3 of the mounting parts.

rootsy: First off, scale those photos down, then park the plow on grass or wood floor, then take photos from both sides. All your photos are close to same angle. Get one of the pull hitch, very important. I think I know what your plow is, however in this case a photo is not worth a 1,000 wirds.

They are from a Farmall A. There should be brackets for mounting the front under the torque tube. And lever for lifting and lowering that mount to the operators platform by the right brake pedal.

It doesn't look like a plow for the Farmall A. Here's a rear view of the plow on an A and one of the A I had with the plow on it and you can see how its mounted beneath the front of the tractor.
This is a 16-inch plow too. Hal

Sorry about the photo angles, camera phones suck but it was all I had at the moment. Plow is still 75 miles from home.

I am fully aware of the typical linkage involved with both the manual lift of the cub / A as well as the touch control lift of the later Cub / Super A.

The front mount is difficult to see I know but it consists of only a flat bar of steel bent into a U and bolted on either side of the beam. This unlike the typical mount used on these plows and the typical mount did not use a part like this.

The CIH parts site is of little help, it does not contain all of the plows of the era and it does not list attachments or variations.

I need to stop by the IH dealer and pick up some parts so I reckon I'll have em break out their parts books for me and we'll do some searching.

Looks identical to my BN-187. They also made an A-187 too (I have parts to one of those).

It's a two way plow setup though (right and left), so you got half of the plows anyway.

I have both manuals if you need a picture.

Thanks,

Have a manual for it now but I appreciate the offer of a photo.

Now.... I need to go chat with the guys about my C-20....
