Couple more questions. My tractor has 2 pumps, one driven off the front pulley and the other the front PTO. Is the pump off the pulley strictly for the power steering? I have 2 filters on the right side of the motor. I assune they are fuel and motor oil. I have not been able to find a hydraulic oil filter on this machine. Was a filter standard equipment, and where was it located? If there isn't one can one be installed after market? W/ the price of oil I'd rather filter it and get some extra life. Thanks again this site is a life saver. Bob

There should be a round cylinder about 7 inches long and 2 inches in diameter on top of the transmission in front of the shift lever. That is where the filter is on my 444. There is also a small screen in the valve unit directly below the seat just to the left of center. It is a hex cap you unscrew and remove the screen. There is also a suction screen in the lower right front of thr resivor. I am not sure about the 2 pumps as my tractor has only 1.
Leon is correct. However neither screen/filter is for the front mounted crankshaft mounted pump.
Also the small filter in front of the gearshif is optional it might or might not be there.
btw the pump on the dist side of the engine is gear driven not belt driven. that pump operates the hydrostatic steering and the rear lift. The front crank pump drives a loader or other accessory.
Follow the hydraulic lines from the pumps.

This filter is part of the remote cylinder control valve kit. Without the remote valves it is an enclosed hydraulic system and only uses the screen in the hydraulic reservoir for a filter.
