mta serial numbers

on my super mta should the tractor and engine serial numbers match? my 41 m m did it was on the flat spot below #1 cyl.the casting date is 3-23-z on the engine.

I am 99% certain the numbers should NOT match. I know they do not match on the Super M's either. mike

ihc did not make any attempte to match engine #s to the tractor# in these models or years.in the earlier years there was matching ones, such as my w-12s

My Dad has a 1954 Super MTA too. The serial number on the tag is 77352-S, but on the block, the smooth flat spot has no numbers at all stamped on it.

SMTA engines except diesel run from and between serial # 113387 or 113394 to 136834.

Andy are you looking on the right flate spot? Look on the one closer to middle of engine front to rear.

Correction last # should be 136833.
Andy I have serial # 77312-S, engine # 131248.

Yep, I'm looking at the right one. No numbers at all stamped on it, but the casting codes show it is the original engine.
