using 450 pistons and a 8777dbhead. the piston dowould the me is hitting the head on the exhaust side. has anyone had this problem.looks like just grinding on the head would work.what would the compression be. thanks

NO , i have used the 8500 ft. pistons that really has a dome with 450 heads and never had a problem. One thing here ya sure ya got the pistons in correctly ?? as i can not see for myself . Now keep in mind here that if you start grinding on pistons that will change the weight of said piston and if each piston is not really close to the same weight you will end up with a bad vibration . And if ya start grinding on the head then you are here again going to screw up the CC displacement of said head and your compression ratio.Like i said i am not there to see for myself and setting here we are only guessing . One other thing you did not STROKE the crank did ya. Or by chance have a M&W stroker crank in it and if this is the case then one must use either the flat top and here i am not sure on the correct piston for a stroker crank.

pistons are marked front.stock crank stock rods. would not grind on pistons. the 8777db is a dist. head. i think. thanks

Grinding a bit off the head edge evenly on each cylinder is OK. But why use a Dist. Head on a high compression set of pistons. That is kinda like putting your right shoe on a chair and tying your left shoelace. I would trade it for a gasoline head, then shave it .05" JimN

tractor vet, the m+w hi-t kit used turbo dome pistons and you should know that you can't use 450 dome pistons with an m head.

yes you can grind clearance in the head. the compression would be a little over 5 to 1. you will have a very sick 450 if you are needing anything over 40 horsepower from your 450. tractor vet is not realizing that your head is an m head not a 450 head.

THANKS FOR THE INFO WHAT KIND OF HEAD DO I LOOK FOR.I AM RESTORING THE TRACTOR LOOKING FOR A LITTLE MORE POWER.NOT A PULLIN TRACTOR.JUST A GOOD STOUT SUPER M.

to use your 450 domed pistons you need a 362174 head. this is a gasoline head for a 400-450. i have one that i would sell for $600.
