unobtainium ???????????

A metal so rare, and therefore expensive, that it's use can be the only justification for the exorbitant price of the parts made from it.
 
There are parts made of titanium, magnesium and other iums.

But when it is made of "unobtainium" the part is no longer available.

I priced a brake adjusting rod for my 340 from Case IH recently, just a 5/16 bolt with a clevice on the end, 58 bucks plus shipping, obviously was made of unobtanium.
 

Un - meaning not.
obtain - meaining get.
ium - suffix commonly given to metals.

Roughly translated, "not gettable metal." In common vernacular, "That part's made of unobtainium." Means you can't get that part.
 
On the atomic number chart, unobtainium is one level above governmentium (Gm). Gm is the most massive element known, and 100%, totally, utterly inert.

If it is made of a metal not yet invented it is made of "unobtainium". If it is available as scrap it is made of junkyardtainium. This is usually more expensive than the cost of the part purchased new.
 
Robert,On your carb have you had it apart? If you did check that the velocity stack is not upside down this will cause a farmall to run wide open only. Do Not ask how I know this!
 
I had to laugh, when designing something rediculous at work we always say we could make it out of unobtainium, but the price would be outrageous. That usually kills the project because management takes it hook line a sinker.
 
I have a good old blacksmith/welder/steam engine man about 6 miles down the road from me who has been able to come up with unobtanium to keep obsoletium and unfixium junkium going. Part of the unobtanium solution is a good old coal forge where he can fabricate at least it will workforem. DOUG
