Farmall C question

Picked up a "51 Farmall C last weekend. pretty nice shape, been sittng for 3 years. The tractor has a temperature gauge plus the shutter lever and linkage, no shutter. According to the manual this is because it would run on distillate? The manifold must have been changed and the shroud is missing. Didn"t know they still used distillate in the 50"s. Also, does anyone have a picture of what the tail of the drawbar should look like? Looks like mine has been replaced with something else. Thanks!

My '51 Super C was always gas, but the fella that had it bought the shutters as an option. He was tucked away in the Catskill in Sullivan county NY, and probably used them just to warmthe tractor up. I know I used them for that on shorter runs in the winter when I was over that way, and certainly here in Maine.

Only gripe I have at all with the whole setup is that when the lever is all the way back to close the shutters, the cuff on my Carharts tends to slip over top of it if I don't pay attention.

Distillate/kerosene engines were available until 1958, at least on the engine for the 450, not sure of the C113/123. The distillate/kero carb has an adjustment for the main jet, gasoline only does not -- assuming it is the original carb -- either can be modified.

I have the parts CD for the C. If you want I can send you a pdf file with a picture of the drawbar assembly. My email is open.
