Dipstick In A Farmall A

Someone had a dipstick on ebay for a Farmall A. I have seen a dipstick for the purpose of checking your oil on a Farmall A. It was screwed in at the pit cock area of tractor. Anyone know of where a dipstick would be used on Farmall A other than that?

Some blocks have a boss cast into them for a dipstick All that is needed is to drill them out (without getting metal into the pan!)
Some blocks in power units and on pull type equipment had dipsticks in that spot. I do not think it was original to have a block casting dipstick in an A. JimN

The Farmall A block has a pad for a dipstick just below the oil pressure gauge behind and below the oil filter. I think it would be hard to use unless the gauge was moved. On the U2 engines I presume the oil pressure gauge was relocated and not attached to the base of the filter. Most IH engines had a provision for a dipstick, the F-12, W-12, O-12 engines certainly did, the Fairway-12 and I-12 used them. The Farmall H and W-4 engines also have provision for a dipstick, about half-way along the block on the right-hand (magneto) side of the engine. Someone in the past has fitted a dip-stick on my 1941 W-4.
