Can a battery that's been running in a + grounded tractor safely be transfered to a - grounded tractor without alarm?

Yes.

Just be sure to observe the proper ground polarity. In other words if it is a negative ground tractor, ground the battery's negative side. If it is a positive ground tractor, ground the positive.

It's perfectly safe Ken...so long as you don't drop the battery on your foot or something(!)
