will a 350 bolt up in an H chassis

Hey guys. I am new to the tractor pulling but very into the pickup pulling classes. I am looking at a farmall H to possibly hook in the stock classes. I can get the tractor for cheap but am not sure bout a couple of things. First I am thinkin bout pulling out the engine and putting in a 350 farmall or something similar. Any ideas on I'd its worth the effort? And is it worth even messing with a H for antique pulling or should I keep lookin for something else. Like I said I pull 4 x4 trucks and am not welk versed on tractors but want something that is worth putting time into to be compeditive with. Thanks

Yes (unless it is from a 350U then the front engine cover will be different). An M carb a good curved distributor W/electronic ignition, and high altitude popup pistons. makes competitive power. The pulling board will have additional info. JimN

Yes,I have one in my H and the 350 will bolt right up with a few minor changes. E-mail if you have questions

Is there weak points in the drivetrain that I might want to beef up before pulling the tractor. With the 350 being a stronger engine. Thanks for all your responses and will definately keep you all in mind for future questions.

Not unless you put more than 50 Hp in it (or 60 if just pulling), or if it is worn out now. The same basic system was used on more powerful tractors. JimN
